The
Orange Postcard Campaign
Suggested
procedures
Purposes;
to influence Congress and serve as an organizing tool.
- As a organizing tool
Groups using the postcard can use it as a fundraiser and
organizing tool. For a small donation provide to each person
attending an event a packet of six cards, two for each Senator
and two for their Representative. They will take one of each home
to mail. The other three cards are to be filled out and kept by
the organizers. The filled out cards provide contact information
that can serve as additions to a mailing list. On the bottom of
each card is the question: May we occasionally contact you regarding
action Items; yes or no (circle one)
- As a lobbying tool
Each group saves its cards until the Representative or Senator
is in their home district for an appointment. Delivery in Washington
D. C. can also be arranged through Americans for a Palestinian
State. Such an appointment can be preceded by a fax and telephone
campaign by the people who indicated on the postcards they were
willing to be informed about action items. Some of these people
can form a delegation to accompany you to the meeting with your
congress person at which the filled out cards retained by the
organization can be hand delivered to back up your message.
The
Advantages of this system
- Each group uses a message on the card according their position.
Their position is their power and vision. We need not all agree
on an identical message beforehand.
- The common color, orange, sends the message of a large and organized
presence. The message is the card itself.
- The particular message is delivered in person backed up by a
large number of cards.
